An autumn view from the Common

BARNES is on the south bank of the River Thames about six miles from the centre of London.  It's an 'urban village', with a High Street and good selection of shops, restaurants and pubs.  There's a Community Association with its own headquarters on the Green.  The Methodist Church is affiliated to Churches Together in Barnes, and (because some worshippers live there) to the neighbouring ecumenical grouping, Churches Together in Mortlake and East Sheen.

BUSES serve the High Street and the Pond within a couple of hundred metres of the church.  The 209 comes from Hammersmith Bus Station (Piccadilly, District, and Hammersmith and City Underground lines).  Other routes are available from Richmond.

TRAINS from Waterloo call at Barnes and Barnes Bridge stations at least every 15 minutes during the week, and around 30 minutes on Sundays, but you need to check that engineering works won't cause you problems on Sundays.  Barnes is on lines serving Richmond, Twickenham, Teddington, Kingston,Wimbledon, or Kew Bridge, Chiswick, Whitton and Hounslow.  The church is about 7 minutes' walk from either Barnes or Barnes Bridge - but the walk from Barnes is along a road through the Common and might be a bit worrying after dark.  Barnes Bridge is by the Thames and from there you can walk to the church up the High Street.

You can click here for a MAP with an arrow showing the location of the church.
